A photograph of rays of multi-shaded purple light on a black background.

by Danielle Wigston

there is a place
you occupied.

past freckles,
past pigment,
past the dermal layers of the skin

sun kissed our skin.
sun burnt, broke and blistered

how trivial
protection seemed.

sickness spreads
in the shade of ultraviolet light.
