For him in the past and the future

by Emma Fernandez

He likes to drown his demons
They never see the light
Uses beer to blur their vision
Then too, he’ll lose his sight

How long can this dynamic last
Before they prove their power
Will he keep downing, drowning pain
Until his final hour

He’s charismatic, charming
Ireland pulses through his veins
And who’s he really harming
If he forgets his own first name

I’ll miss him ‘til forever
For his call I’ll sit and wait
Love’s too much of an endeavour
I just want to be his mate
